Associate Professor, Ph.D.

Shcherbakova Olga

Scientific research

Olga’s research interests include psychology of intelligence, processes of understanding and, in particular, the influence of correspondence between mental imagery and verbal representations on intellectual efficiency. With the use of different types of verbal texts (such as jokes, fables, metaphors, etc.), she studies how mental representations of cognitive tasks affect their solutions. Olga has been a PI in a number of research projects on psychological and psychophysiological aspects of cognitive activity and factors of cognitive impairments in intellectually safe adults.

In the Lab

As a member of the Laboratory team, she contributes to the study of various factors affecting the efficiency of explicit and implicit semantic learning of novel word-forms. She is the Chair of the Organizing Committee of the annual International Neurobiology of Speech and Language conference organized by the Laboratory.
